The train ride starts in San Francisco, California. Then follow the states of Nevada, Utah, Colorado, Nebraska, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio and Pennsylvania. You end in New York, the end point of this train. So expect the most spectacular nature, such as Lake Michigan and the Finger Lakes.

The first part, from San Francisco to Chicago, costs you about 145 dollars (about 100 euros). Buy this ticket at California Zephyr tickets. The part after that you take off with the Lake Shore Limited train, for only 100 dollars (about 70 euros). In total, you will not lose 250 euros (213 dollars)! An upgrade is possible, although you will of course pay more.
